Dune - St Alia of the Knife by Gorrem Dune - St Alia of the Knife by Gorrem
St. Alia Atreides at age 17. I imagine somewhere between Children and Messiah when she is beginning to adopt her role as a religious figure among the Fremen.

I wanted it to be a sort of classic portraiture of her, which I rendered first, and then I later thought it would be cool to frame her with a window shaped like a rising sandworm.

If you're wondering why she is so colorful, it is because my readings of Herbert's Dune has always used color very symbolically and very vividly to describe clothes.

Excellent. Alia has "the Look" down pat. It's a shame really that she went madder than a dozen or so March Hares.

Alia is a babe! A terrifying babe. You captured that well.

The posture and expression reminds me of certain portraits of Elizabeth I of England.

This is amazing. You really projected the "Fear Me" aura that Alia is supposed to have.

I'm interested in her story, this is the first time I've ever heard of her.. Very nice painting! The details and colors are simply amazing! The shadows are too! And the smoke!
