This started out as a sketch I did 2 years ago which I decided to paint. The " story" I had in mind was this peasant girl who runs away from her farm life to become a knight, rebelling against class, family and gender bias to fullfill her dream. Thus the title.

What I find repetitive about most female medieval warriors is that A) they're always squeeky clean with their hair in fashionable perms (tell me people, where is the Pro-V shampoo being manufactured in 900 AD?), B) they're either under dressed or over dressed, and C) they're always so cocky. I tried to avoid these factors in my piece.

This almost reminds me of a novella by Tamora Pierce but it is also quite a bit different.

but crossbow is better, she can't shoot from bow when she have armored gloves, and chainmail is no good for foot fight,

i tell this as user of this stuff

Her eyes are just amazing! They have so much life in them! They were the first thing that caught my eye. I also love the disigns you put on the armor and the birds flying in the background are a really great touch to the pic.

this is one of the few un-hot girls I've seen.. haha. Well, she's hot bodywise, but her face and hair isn't that appealing. But the painting is, ooooh my. Sooo nice, background and everything. I'd love to see you try different styles sometime, like anime, etc.
