Power Girl Redesigns

Let me make it clear for the record that this wasn't for Infinite Crisis, which is a DC game I'm involved in. However... It was obviously inspired by it. Doing research for all these heroes lead me to looking at all the designs of every superhero past and present, and in particular the ones that always get a lot of attention whenever they get redesigned, like Power Girl. PG's got a lot many redesigns over the years but the one that became iconic was, of course, the circular boob window. let me ALSO state for the record I am no way apposed to boobs and showing them off, as evident by the rest of my portfolio.

This is a reaction to the way her costume has been recently redesigned for the new 52. I reacted negatively at first, since to me it didn't look like Powergirl anymore. However, I could see what they're trying to do; cover her up and get rid of her "unnecessarily" exposed flesh. In my head I thought, "ok, I guess some women thought it detracted from her character as a self-empowered person," and tried to redesign it to cover up the boob window but bring back some more of the previous design, which to me seemed like the obvious solution.

Since painting and posting this image, I've come to realize that despite the original designer using the boob window as a prank to see how long he could get away with it, it seems like the opinion also may be that she chooses to wear it because she feels like it and doesn't let other people judge her for it. As confusing as this is for me, I'm posting this image as a way to expunge my internal dilemma.
